UPDATE:  UTA Passes for the 26-27 School Year

UTA is upgrading its fare payment system, which requires new transit cards for staff, guardians, and most students.

Who Needs a New Card?

  • Secondary students using a OneCard: No action needed. Your current OneCard will continue to work.
  • Elementary students: A new UTA card is required.
  • Staff: A new UTA card is required.
  • Guardians with UTA passes: A new pass is required.

Current UTA cards will remain active through September 30, 2026.


Elementary Students

  • New cards will be delivered to schools by the end of August.
  • Students can pick up their card from a designated school staff member.
  • The school designee must enter the new UTA pass number into PowerSchool.
  • Cards will become active overnight after the update.
  • Old UTA cards will stop working on September 30, 2026.

Staff

  • IT will begin printing and distributing staff cards by the second week of September.
  • To receive your new card, please submit an IT help ticket: https://helpdesk.slcschools.org
  • Old UTA cards will stop working on September 30, 2026.

Guardian Passes

  • New guardian passes will be distributed to schools by the second week of September.
  • IT will provide each school with a list of guardians who currently have a pass.
  • IT will notify guardians through ParentSquare when their new pass is ready for pickup at the school.
  • The expiration date for current guardian passes is still being determined.
